Job Description
Mooinjer Veggey Nursery based in St. Johns Primary School is currently looking
for friendly, caring and motivated Nursery Assistant to join the Mooinjer Veggey
team working term time only. Mooinjer Veggey is an educational charity (no. 793)
which exists to promote knowledge and use of Manx Gaelic to children from early
years upwards. Manx is not a requirement for this role, but an interest in
learning and using some simple Manx with the children and learning songs and
rhymes in Manx would be an advantage. Existing knowledge of Manx would be an
advantage, but not essential as learning takes place on the job. Ideally, we are
looking for someone who is flexible and able to work some extra hours when
needed to cover for staff absences, sometimes at short notice. Our aim is to
create a warm and friendly setting and provide a positive, safe, happy, and
nurturing approach to childcare. The children in our care receive stimulation
and develop from our ethos of a play-based approach to learning through positive
experiences. You will need to be confident, caring and most importantly
passionate about childcare. You will be a committed, professional, organised,
flexible, and responsible Nursery Assistant who is able to use their own
initiative and work as part of a team. The successful candidates will: Ideally
hold a level 3 qualification in Early Years e.g. NNEB,NVQ,CACHE,DPP Have sound
knowledge of the EYFS (if qualified) Available to work from 8.30a.m. and until
4p.m. though shorter shifts are usually worked. Be passionate to work with
children. Have a desire to learn and grow. Make all children and their families
feel special every day and part of a large family. Work closely alongside their
colleagues, supporting and encouraging each other. Be imaginative, creative, and
not afraid to dress up, join in and have fun with the children. Job Duties
Summary: Work as a part of a team to meet the needs of caring for children.
Working closely with the Nursery Manager taking instruction and using initiative
where needed. Work with our other staff members who manager administration,
engagement and finance roles. To achieve and maintain high standards of care. To
assist the Nursery Manager in delivering high-quality childcare according to the
EYFS. (Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum) Help to provide a fun and
nurturing setting for the children. Adhering to Health and Safety policies, risk
assessments, and relevant documentation. Working to support parents/carers to
best support children's care and development.
