Job Description
About the Role
There is an Independent Monitoring Board (IMB) attached to every prison, including the Isle of Man Prison and this provision includes the adolescent Secure Care Home in the Isle of Man which is managed by Family Action on behalf of Manx Care. The Board members on the Island also act as Independent Custody Visitors (ICV).
You will be responsible for monitoring visits to examine the way in which detainees are treated; the conditions of the establishment and the range of activities available. You will listen and respond to complaints and issues raised by the young people and seek solutions to issues raised. You will be expected to be part of a rota for scheduled visits, and also attend the establishment in the event of a serious incident.
The role of the Board involves a wide range of responsibilities, and each member is expected to contribute to the work of the Board through participation in various meetings.
